چکیده
In the following the symbol 0 is used to denote the composition of functions. A superscript of the form (p) where p is a nonnegative integer will indicate the p-th derivative of a function. For example, if Hand g are differentiable functions, then Hog(I)(t) = ftH(g(t)). Wherever used, K1, K2, ... will represent appropriate constants. E and P will be used for expectation and probability, respectively. Convergence in distribution will be denoted by ~. Finally, I[ ] will be the indicator function of the event within the brackets.

An Improvement in WRP Block Replacement Policy with Reviewing and Solving its Problems
One of the most important items for better file system performance is efficient buffering of disk blocks in main memory. Efficient buffering helps to reduce the widespeed gap between main memory and hard disks. In this buffering system, the block replacement policy is one of the most important design decisions that determines which disk block should be replaced when the buffer is full. To o...

متن کاملComparisons of Replacement Policies with Constant and Random Times
This paper proposes random age, periodic and block replacement policies which are made at random variable times, and optimal policies that minimize their expected cost rates are discussed analytically and computed numerically. We compare such random replacements with their standard policies that are made at constant times. Comparison results show that when costs for random and constant replacem...
متن کاملA Cache-Partitioning Aware Replacement Policy for Chip Multiprocessors
Chip multiprocessors (CMPs) usually employ shared, lastlevel caches to use on-chip memory resources effectively. Unfortunately, conventional replacement policies applied to shared caches fail to partition memory resources among cores to achieve an optimal execution throughput. This paper presents a novel replacement policy that dynamically estimates how many misses would be eliminated if one mo...
متن کاملBlock replacement policy with uncertain lifetimes
Block replacement policy is a type of preventive replacement policies where the units are always replaced at failure or at a scheduled time periodically. Assuming the lifetimes of the units are uncertain variables, this paper studies the block replacement policy in an uncertain environment. To deal with the different constraints a decision maker may face, three different criterions are used to ...
